t magpies,

which, it is thought, should not be protected

here in any way owing to their destructive effect on other

bird life.

Schedule B, which contains a list of the birds to be

protected during the breeding season, differs somewhat from

Sie second part of Ir. Ogilvie-Grant's list, but it includes

11 the birds that are worth shooting here, other than snipe,

woodcock, jeese and swans. The latter are omitted because

they do not breed in Hongkong, and they are omitted also from

the birds included in Schedule A so tat they may be shot at

any time.

It was considered on the other hand that raiks

and waders generally should be protected throughout the whole

year. Grouse, moor game, black game and bustards are not

found here, aid they "ere included in Ordinance No. 6 of 1585

only to protect en experimental importation.

Schedule C contains the form of licence to be issued under

nection 5 of the Ordinance. The fee specified in t'e game as

that water the forcer Ordinance.

None of the birds enumerated appear to have any special

local lanes and as they all belong to well blown species it

sceled unnecessary to include eny scientific names in the

schedules.

3/- Iny opinion this is an Ordinance to which His Excellency

the Governor may properly assent in the name of His Tajesty and

on His behalf.
